ԹϹ supports an environment characterized by open and honestcommunication andencourages members of the community to seek out theappropriate Universitypersonnel when they believe policies or standards have been violated. We want you to feel comfortable approaching theappropriate universitypersonnel where you believe a policy or standard has been violated.
- Confidentiality: Confidentiality and privacy in managing each report is important, insofar as it is reasonably practicable. Identities will be disseminated only to those individuals who have a legitimate need to know, or as reasonably necessary for the purpose of investigating or resolving the report. Reporting individuals should understand that upon their reporting an incident under this process, the report may be disclosed, as necessary, to the individual about whom the report is made. Although the University will endeavor to maintain the confidentiality of complaints under this process, it cannot absolutely guarantee against the further dissemination of information by individuals to whom such information was reasonably disclosed by the University in the course of an investigation.
- False Reports: Reports found to have been intentionally dishonest or made maliciously or without regard for the truth will constitute a violation of university policy as furtherset forth inthe .

- If you are experiencing a roommate conflict or have concerns involving your roommate or residence hall staff, please reach out to your Resident Director. They are available to meet with you, listen to your concerns, and help you navigate the situation. Whether you need support, guidance, or assistance finding a resolution, your Resident Director is here to help and connect you with appropriate resources.

The University is committed to having a campus environment free from all bias, hate crimes, and harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national or ethnic origin, physical or mental disability, marital or veteran status or any other characteristic protected by state or federal laws (characteristics collectively referred to as “Protected Characteristic”). Bias and discriminatory harassment are prohibited in the campus environment, including all academic, athletic, and school-sponsored activities, and the University may be legally required to investigate both informal and formal complaints of discriminatory harassment. Where discrimination and/or harassment is found to have occurred, the University will takeappropriate actionto prevent recurrence of harassment and to correct its discriminatory effects, ifappropriate.Discriminatory harassment is verbal, nonverbal, expressive, or physical conduct that denigrates or shows hostility or aversionto an individual on the basis of that person’s Protected Characteristic and creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive academic or residential environment or otherwise adversely affects the individual’s academic opportunities or participation in aUniversityprogram, activity, or benefit. ԹϹ’s definition of discriminatory harassment is interpreted and applied consistent with current legal standards, as well as accepted standards of mature behavior and objective reasonableness.

Hazing refers to any activity expected of someone joining a group, conducted for the purpose of initiation into or affiliation with a group, or expected of a group member to maintain full status in a group, where the activity is abusive, humiliating, degrading, excessive, or contrary to commonly accepted standards of decency, or risks emotional or physical harm. The requirement or expectation toparticipatein the activity need not be expresslystated. If an individualreasonably believesthat they will not be considered a fully participating member of the group or that they will be ostracized for notparticipatingin particular behaviors(for example, alcohol use), then such implied coercion will be considered hazing.

EthicsPoint supplements the many existing reporting channels across the University. ԹϹ supports an environment of open, honest communications and encourages community members to approach appropriate University personnel in instances where they believe violations of policies or standards have occurred. However, in situations where you prefer to place a report on an anonymous basis or through an outside party, ԹϹ has implemented the hotline.
